Permanente leadership has partnered with Diversity Science to conduct an Inclusive Climate Assessment. We are proud to support six Permanente Medical Groups, Permanente Dental Associates, and The Permanente Federation in learning more about the reality of physician and employee experiences and how inclusive practices and behaviors are showing up in the workplace. The results of the Inclusive Climate Assessment will help guide decisions about how to make things better for you, your colleagues, and the patients you care for.

Ensuring that Permanente provides the highest-quality care and service requires that all physicians and staff work with mutual respect in an organizational climate that fosters equity, inclusion, and diversity. Permanente leadership wants to hear from you about your perspectives and experiences so that they can continue to improve and be the best place to work.

Inclusion means that every individual’s background, perspective, identity, and way of thinking are fully brought forth in their work and interactions with colleagues and patients at Permanente.

Employee engagement surveys are very important in that they tell your leadership how you feel. The Inclusive Climate Assessment, on the other hand, will provide insight into why you feel the way you do. Diversity Science will use the results to provide Permanente with specific, actionable recommendations to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion at your organization.

Diversity Science is a mission-driven, public-benefit organization that translates the latest research into practical and effective tools to create diverse, equitable, and inclusive organizations. We conduct Inclusive Climate Assessments, but also develop eLearning and provide organizational capacity building focused on making DEI work effective and strategic. The Inclusive Climate Assessment questionnaire is entirely confidential. The questionnaire is sent from Diversity Science and only the Diversity Science Team will have access to the data. No one at Permanente (i.e., Permanente Medical Groups, Permanente Dental Associates, or The Permanente Federation) will have access to any individual answers.

Please note:

  • The questionnaire is hosted on a secure external website outside of and unconnected to the Permanente intranet and computer network.
  • Answers are never linked to a name or identifying information; the questionnaire does not ask for personal identifiers.
  • Diversity Science will summarize the results in a statistical format and report results in aggregate only.
  • No one can get access to the dataset and try to identify a respondent.

Yes, you can complete the questionnaire on most mobile devices and any computer connected to the internet.

Permanente Leadership wants to:

  • Learn how inclusive and equitable the organization is today.
  • Learn about the organizational and interpersonal factors that affect your lived experience at work.
  • Create a baseline for continuous organizational growth toward greater equity and inclusion.

To participate in the Inclusive Climate Assessment, all you have to do is complete a 9-12 minute confidential online questionnaire regarding your opinions and experiences at your organization.

The questionnaire will launch on August 17th, 2020. You will have  until September 4th to complete it.

Yes. Your organization will receive a comprehensive report containing all the data insights gained from the Inclusive Climate Assessment, along with actionable recommendations for organizational growth.

Yes. The Inclusive Climate Assessment questionnaire was reviewed and approved by Permanente legal counsel.

No. However, we do encourage you to complete the questionnaire at one time. You can log out and log back in as many times as you need, but you must use the link in the email you received, so please save that link. If you have any trouble, email [email protected]

Yes, filling out the questionnaire is completely voluntary. However, your experiences and opinions matter! We hope you will participate and take this opportunity to share your perceptions and opinions about inclusion and equity at Permanente. Questionnaire responses are confidential, so no one will know if you did or did not participate.

Yes. You can skip any question or any part of the questionnaire and just answer the questions you want. However, we will get a more complete picture of inclusion at Permanente if all recipients complete the full questionnaire. It is entirely your choice as to which questions you answer.
